Why We Do What We Do
This
is Little Orphan Annie and her new mom, Sheila. Annie was
saved in a serious neglect case. It was the worst case her
town had seen and workers weren't sure how Annie survived.
Here was this small cocker spaniel girl, horribly thin, sickly,
and blind, but in spite of all these things Annie was sweet and
loving. She wagged her tail at the sound of their voices
and showered them with cocker kisses. They knew this girl
deserved the best home possible and Annie soon found herself at
Cocker Pals Rescue.
Annie needed a lot of medical attention.
Along with the usual vetting and spaying required, Annie had
serious eye pressure in both her eyes due to Glaucoma and a
suspicious tumor on her hind leg. Fundraising allowed CARA
to provide a grant for Annie and surgery was performed to
decrease the pressure in her eyes and biopsy the tumor.
While her vision could not be restored, the news on the
tumor was much better - it was benign!
Cocker
Pals began looking for the perfect home for Annie. They
didn't have to look far - At a Cocker Pals event, Sheila, Walt
and their children met Annie. The family fell in love with
Annie and knew well the blessings a special needs dog can bring
to your life. Their family already included two cockers:
Sarah, a rescue from their local shelter, and Simone, another
CARA Fund Grant recipient and also blind. As soon as Annie was
well enough to leave rescue, she went to her forever home where
she is loved beyond measure. Annie amazes her family at her new
home with her fearlessness and joy. And none of this would have
happened without your support.
Annie and Sheila hope that you will support the CARA Fund so
other needy cocker spaniels can be helped and reach the forever
home they so desperately deserve.

Home, Sweet Home . . . .
