CARA's Little Star

Annie

Submitted by: Robin Belcher

Story: Annie’s family was walking through the door of a shelter when another rescue spotted the beautiful, little 6-month-old and convinced them to release Annie at which time they contacted CCSR.  One of my favorite memories of Annie was after I picked her up and took her home with me to foster – we walked through the door; and, as always, Petie and Ben-Ben were waiting in their usual places with toys hanging out of their mouths.  Petie took one look at gorgeous Annie, his mouth dropped open and his toy fell to the floor!  It was truly hilarious as I thought to myself, “Just like a guy!”  From that moment on, Petie couldn’t get enough of Annie; so, it’s a good thing that Petie’s mommy and Annie’s new daddy dated because Petie & Annie always got to see each other!

She was treated like a Princess for 3 very short years at which time congenital kidney failure took Annie’s life.  We all loved Annie very much; and, fortunately, her death was not in vain as Linda from CCSR and Annie’s daddy started Annie’s Rescued Friends (ARF) in honor of Annie and a promise by Annie’s daddy to build a shelter in her honor.  And, there is not a day that goes by that we don’t remind Annie’s daddy of that promise!

We love you!  Daddy, Mommy, JoJo, Maggie, Ali, Hannah, Angel, Petie, & “Angel Ben-Ben”
