CARA's Little Star

Bridgette

Submitted by: Judy Riehl

Story: Bridgette came into my mother's life a few months after she retired. We saw a little buff cocker reaching out of her cage at our PetSmart, as if to wave and say, "hey, over here - look at me" My mother took her out of the cage and home that day for a "trial". Bridgette knocked the screen out of the window, ran to follow my mother back out to the car and then promptly came back inside and hopped into the tub and demanded a bath. 24 hours later, my mother called to say Bridgette would be staying forever.

They were inseparable and Bridgette became the favorite of all the ladies in the senior complex. She had a regular route and visited each lady. Her signature was a bag of Canine Carryouts she carried around in her mouth. She pulled my mother through brain surgery - it wasn't until Bridgette visited her in the hospital that my mother regained consciousness. When my mother died Bridgette came to live with me and Little Bit and her love of Canine Carryouts continues. She is now 13 and blind, but still a joy and our ray of sunshine.
