Sophie Sweet Pea is one of the lucky ones. Sophie (known as
Sweet Pea then) came to rescue in 2003 blind from cataracts
at the age of 3. Cocker Pals Rescue held an online
fundraiser and were able to raise the funds to have cataract
surgery for Sweet Pea at Cornell University. Sweet Pea got
her sight back thanks to many generous donations and the
love of her rescuer.
On July 16, 2004 I adopted Sophie Sweet Pea. She is a
fiesty little girl with so much love to give. When I look
into those big brown eyes and think of what she has been
through in her young life, it breaks my heart and makes me
love her all the more.
Sophie is inquisitive, charming and spunky. She likes to be
the leader of her sisters and almost demands it at times.
She thinks all the food and toys are for her and can be
relentless in her pursuit of happiness.
She snores loudly. She grunts when she runs around with a
toy in her mouth. She loves to roll around in the snow or a
pile of dirt. She is always by my side or at my feet
wanting to know where I am and what I am doing every
second. I love my Sophie.
In January 2007 Sophie was diagnosed with Cushings Disease.
She does well with her medications but it can be a struggle
for her. She has been such a tolerant little girl with all
the tests and vet visits this past year.
Sophie loves life and she loves her family. She makes me
laugh, can make me angry but most of all I love her for
everything that she is.......my spunky little Sweet Pea.
We love you Sophie Sweet Pea and are so happy you are part
of our family.
