Thank you for your support though the special auction to help Jazmine and Vinnie!
The CARA Fundparticipated in an auction to
raise funds for two very special dogs. We're pleased to
introduce you to Jasmine and Vinnie here:
Jazmine
Jazmine
came into rescue after years in an unhappy, abusive home. She
suffered from glaucoma that went untreated and all her vet
records listed her as aggressive and anti-social. What the
vet records didn't show was that her former owner thought it was
funny to tease her and make her growl and would torment her with
this regularly. Her aggressive behavior was learned at the
hands of those who should have protected and calmed her. She was later found with the
body of that same owner, who committed suicide. Colorado
Cocker Spaniel Rescue took her in when the local shelter said
she would be impossible to place there. And from that
point forward, Jazmine's luck changed.
After
several months of unconditional love from her foster family,
John and Jane Gaddis, the real Jazmine emerged: a sweet
affectionate girl with a playful spirit. Her favorite game
is now keep away and growling has been replaced with the cocker
wiggle butt we all love so much. John and Jane have been
working with a trainer and have made great strides in the area
of guarding her food and other items.
Jazmine now needs help with mammary tumors.
In the words of Rescue director Becky Fraser:
"The
cost is more than we can afford at estimates of $1400 (low
est.) and $1700 (high estimate). We know that the longer we
wait on removal of the tumors the greater the risk for
Jazmine's future health. We are praying that once removed
and biopsies, she will be cancer free. She has already had
a tough enough life. She deserves the "new" life that her
foster parents can provide her, where she will be cherished
and treated with the kindness, respect and the love that she
so desperately craves."
Vinnie
Meet
Vinnie. Vinnie was in a car accident and as you can imagine,
Vinnie did not fair well. Second Chance Cocker Rescue in
Santa Barbara, CA, stepped up to help him and now they need help
covering the expenses involved in all his medical treatment.
Car accidents result in very expensive vet
bills and it takes a rescue with a big heart to accept such a
case unconditionally. For Vinnie, those bills stand at $1500.00 He recently had surgery for a broken leg and
is recovering
beautifully at his foster home.
Little Vinnie may look sad in this picture, but
don't let that fool you. He is a happy go lucky boy who
never lost his sweet disposition throughout his whole ordeal.
Even with a broken leg, he covered his rescuers faces with
kisses. He is making great progress with his foster family
and will be chasing balls in not time. All that's needed
now is for Vinnie to mend till he's good as new to find
his forever home. To do that, he still needs your help.
